Northrop’s entrant into the Lightweight Fighter Competition, the F-17 Cobra is the basis of the somewhat larger F/A-18 Hornet. Unlike its BVR and PGM capable descendant, the F-17 was a sleek, nimble, and truly light weight fighter.
