Following the Falklands War, the Fleet Air Arm made an assessment of the Sea Harrier’s performance and founding it lacking in several critical areas. Expedient fixes were followed by a significant upgrade, featuring a reshaped nose housing the far more capable Blue Vixen radar. AMRAAM active-homing radar missiles gave the new SHAR a potent air superiority capability!
Sea Harrier FA.2 flew with an overall scheme, which often received smart tail insignia, such as the checkerboard rudder of 801 Sqn.
